BluePhage

Challenge
Raise increased share capital funding and strategic consultancy.
Scenario
BluePhage is a University of Barcelona spin-off that develops innovative products to measure water quality. Its main line of business is based on an in-house methodology that detects water pollution using bacteriophages and that aspires to revolutionise this market.
This start-up is led by Dr Anicet Blanch, who manages the laboratory that created this technology, and Enric Queralt, CEO.
BluePhage was established in 2012 and has passed every technology validation test. It is now about to set off along the regulatory and authorisation path in order to launch its product on the European market within 12 months.
Solution
The company has already closed a bridge round that allowed it to continue developing the product before launching a share capital increase round to finance the commercial launch of its primary product line and the development of new products.
The UPF Ventures team is supporting BluePhage in the following areas:
- Raising increased share capital: introductions to investors, follow-up and negotiations
- Definition and implementation of the business plan
- Contacts with suppliers and experts
- Completing the team with the necessary critical profiles
