Àlex Casta (1979-2018), Director of UPF Ventures, died unexpectedly in December. We wish to express our sorrow and most sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Àlex joined us at the start of 2017. He was upbeat, generous, open to dialogue and had a sound knowledge of entrepreneurship, innovation and technology transfer in the fields of health and ICTs. He was a key figure in defining the path UPF Ventures needs to follow in order to create value in the Catalan ecosystem. His sudden death prevented him from completing a strategic plan that he worked on passionately, surrounded by people he trusted.
His career demonstrated his quality: he held managerial positions at Caixa Capital Risc, Biocat and the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation, in addition to founding his own start-up: RadisMed. He made good friends everywhere he worked.
Alex, you’ll be with us always.
